Beer in the winelands

Blaauwklippen

Blaauwklippen 1682

As I have mentioned, this site is going to be letting you know where you can find one of the Beer Garden’s stands at local family markets in the Cape, where hopefully you’ll come and join us for a fine brew.

This weekend we are going to be appearing at two markets in the wine lands; the weekly Laborie Lazy Days Farmer’s Market (Saturday); and the monthly Blaauwklippen Family Market (Saturday & Sunday). And we’re loving it!

Laborie

Arts, crafts & beer

There’s nothing like arriving to stock up on beautiful veggies fresh from the farm, finding new organic preserves and delicacies to fill the jam drawer, and while doing so enjoy an ice cold beer! And the folk who man the stands are generally such a good bunch of people, there is always a wonderful bustling atmosphere.

It’ll be our first appearance at the Blaauwklippen Family Market, and we’re looking forward to meeting lots of new customers from the Stellenbosch/Somerset West area. Although I do know of a couple of people who’ll be traveling out that way, bringing moms, brothers and friends to make a day of it.

Oettinger

Well priced German beer

Remember that we have got beers to suit everyone’s budget, with prices from R15 – R35 in bottle sizes from 330ml – 550ml. This week we will be introducing¬† a new German wheat beer, the OeTTINGER Hefe-Weissbier and OeTTINGER Export Lager at R20 each – and Lenny & I were especially impressed with it and felt it tasted a lot like Hoegaarden from Holland. Come and try a cold one and see for yourself.

Join Blaauwklippen’s Facebook page where you’ll be able to see some pics of last month’s market if you haven’t been convinced already.

Stephan Dixon

Chilled funky music

Last week, Laborie had such a good atmosphere as they’d brought in the Stephan Dixon Duo to entertain the market with chilled music and we’re looking forward to more of it happening in future. I know that the Studerbakers are going to be playing the Blues, but more about that in future.

Featured at our stand this week will be: local is lekker with the Robson’s range from KZN; the full Erdinger range, including the now available Erdinger Non-Alcoholic; the full imported Paulaner range; Valentin’s Hefe-weissbier; the 3 Belgian monsters from Mardesous; our cherry babe the wonderful Liefmans Fruitesse; Tiger and Singha; and of course OeTTINGER!

Lovoka

Chocolate & Caramel

We will also be catering to those who love a good liqueur with Lovoka Chocolate & Caramel, or a range of amazing hand-crafted, organic spirits from Jorgensen’s Distillery in Wellington with Field of Dreams Absinthe, Primitiv Vodka & Naked Lemon Limoncello.

We look forward to serving you, and remember, life’s too short for bad beer!
